Ginger fact

Turmeric is a flowering plant of the ginger family. The roots, rootstock or rootstalk is used for cooking. It is one of the key ingredient in Asian dishes, used as dye, acidity indicator, and claimed to have anti-inflammatory (curcumin) medicinal value, but remain unproven as of 2017 (J med chem. 2017 mar 9; 60(5): 1620–1637).

Being sold by weight, illegal adulteration (with lead oxide, metanil yellow) of powder products is very common.
