A medical device is any instrument, apparatus, implement, machine, appliance, implant, in vitro reagent, software, substance, or other similar or related product that the producer intends to be used alone or in combination for a medical purpose.


Common medical treatments, such as bandaging a sprained ankle, detecting HIV/AIDS, implanting an artificial hip, or any surgical intervention, would not be possible without medical gadgets. Medical gadgets are utilized in a variety of situations, including at home by laypeople, in distant clinics by paramedical employees and doctors, in advanced medical facilities by opticians and dentists, and in palliative care by healthcare professionals. These types of health technologies are used to detect illnesses, track treatments, assist disabled individuals, and invent new ones.
